The developing procedure consists of taking the leader of the film (4) from its cassette (1) and inserting it lengthwise into a developing tank which is filled with a succession of different processing fluids which are agitated at least on the gelatine side of the film and emptied after each processing stage. After processing the film is dried and then rewound into its cassette. The processing apparatus consists of a holder for the film cassette, a series of containers (12) for the developing liquids, a rotary distributor (9) for connecting the containers in sequence with the developing tank, and a system (14-19) for filling and emptying the tank and agitating the liquid inside it, including a pneumatic pump (15).
