PURPOSE: An active plasma display panel is provided to charge the data voltage to the data assistant electrode in a circuit without using an unstable plasma switch and to supply a method for driving an active PDP. CONSTITUTION: An active plasma display panel includes a scanning electrode(34), a data assistant electrode(32), a diode(D), a lower dielectric layer(24), a data electrode(22), a capacitor(C) and the first and second sustain electrodes(14, 16). The scanning electrode(34) and the data assistant electrode(32) are formed on the lower dielectric layer(24) and the diode(D) is connected between scanning electrode(34) and the data assistant electrode(32). The capacitor(C) of each cell is formed by the data electrode(22) between the scanning electrode(34) and the lower dielectric layer(24). The scanning electrode(34) and the diode(D) supply the reference voltage to the data assistant electrode(32) and data voltage is charged, so the data assistant electrode(32) becomes a floating electrode to sustain the charged voltage. A pair of sustain electrodes composed of the first and second sustain electrodes(14, 16) begin the charge by the lighting pulse and the sustaining pulse. |
