摘要 PURPOSE: To provide an optical soliton transmitter, an optical transmitter, an optical receiver and an optical soliton transmission method where multiplicity can be enhanced at a high-speed with a large capacity. CONSTITUTION: An optical communication system 10 consists an optical transmitter 20 and an optical receiver 30 that are interconnected by a transmission medium 40 having an abnormal dispersion characteristic. The optical transmitter 20 converts a plurality of information signals IS (IS1-ISn) generated from a plurality of signal sources into optical signals LP each having a light intensity capable of optical soliton transmission and different amplitude for each information signal IS and outputs the result. The optical receiver 30 has a function that discriminates any of the information signals IS depending on the amplitude from the optical signals LP received through the transmission medium 40 and demodulates each of a plurality of the information signals IS.
