PURPOSE: A method of providing compressed audio files and a system thereof are provided to convert text and voice data into a compressed audio file format to play the file through an audio player portably. CONSTITUTION: In a system providing compressed audio files, in a step(S210), an MP3 file provider(130) renews MP3 files from a database server(110) and saves the files in a built-in memory, minimizing downloading time. In (S220), a user selects a file through a search software. In (S230), the MP3 file provider(130) checks if the selected file is saved in the memory. In (S240), if the MP3 file is not found in the memory, the MP3 file provider(130) connects to the database server(110) and looks for the file there and downloads the file into the memory when found. In (S250), the user can listen to the text or voice data through his own MP3 player by downloading the MP3 file. In short, by searching the file first in the built-in memory, downloading time is reduced.
