PURPOSE: A device and a method for processing teletext of a TV are provided so that a user can easily search information in a short time period, by displaying teletext information corresponding to a wanted page according to the user's selection. CONSTITUTION: A user enters a teletext setup mode by using a menu, number or direction key, sets up at least one preferred teletext page number, and turns on a teletext function. A microcomputer judges whether the teletext function is turned on(S41). If so, the microcomputer transmits a control signal to a teletext control unit, so that the teletext corresponding to the preferred page can be decoded and stored in a memory(S42). Thereafter, the microcomputer confirms whether a teletext display command is inputted(S43). If so, the microcomputer transmits a control signal to the teletext control unit, so that the teletext page number and title list can be displayed(S44). The microcomputer confirms whether the user selects one of the page numbers(S45). When the user selects a specific page number, the microcomputer transmits a control signal to the teletext control unit, so that the teletext information corresponding to the selected page number can be output through a character generating unit. In addition, the microcomputer controls an image processing unit so that the teletext information can be displayed on a screen through a display unit(S46). Accordingly, the user can search wanted information with a small capacity memory.
