PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the number of speed change stages of irregular rotation and to prevent an unsuitable speed change in intrarow spacing in a transplanter for carrying out irregular speed transmission of planting power. SOLUTION: A riding rice transplanter is equipped with a planting mechanism 15 for scraping seedlings from a seedling-carrying platform 13 and transplanting the seedlings to a field, a speed changing mechanism 29 in the intrarow spacing for changing relative operation speed of the planting mechanism 15 relatively to the car speed and an irregular speed changing mechanism 32 for causing a change in the planting operation speed in one cycle without changing the planting cycle of the planting mechanism 15. A first speed changing operation mechanism K1 in the intrarow spacing for changing over the constant speed to irregular speed simultaneously with the speed change in the intrarow spacing and a second speed changing operation mechanism K2 in the intrarow spacing for carrying out only the speed change in the intrarow spacing of a plurality of stages are composed. The speed change operation of the first speed changing operation mechanism K1 in the intrarow spacing is permitted only when the second speed changing operation mechanism K2 in the intrarow spacing is present in a prescribed speed change stage and the speed change operation of the second speed changing operation mechanism K2 in the intrarow spacing to the irregular speed side is permitted only when the first speed changing operation mechanism K1 in the intrarow spacing is present on the constant speed side.
