PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem: in forming slots to be easily scraped by transplanter when transplanting seedlings by making holes in a urethane mat, scraping accuracy by transplanter is badly influenced if the position of the hole shifts to the position of the slot, and enhance accuracy of transplantation by regularly forming relation of positions between the seedling planting holes and the slots. SOLUTION: The device for forming slots in a solid medium is constituted by alternately forming large numbers of pins forming seedling planting holes 30a for inserting the seedlings on a mat-like solid medium held in a nursery cabinet transported by seedling-growing vessel-transporting device and slot-forming plates for forming the slots 30b on the solid medium in a direction crossing transporting direction of the nursery cabinet, and forming the seedling inserting holes and the slots by falling the pins and the slot-forming plates downward from above the nursery cabinet and inserting them into the solid medium.
