PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which reduces wear of bearing portions due to the deadweight of a carriage. SOLUTION: In the recording device, the bearing portions 10A and 10B of the carriage 2 carrying the recording head 3 are slidably inserted into and engaged with a guide shaft 1 horizontally arranged, and the carriage 2 is supported forward and rearward movably along the guide shaft 1. The carriage 2 is provided with a slider 20 elastically urged by a compression coil spring 21 in the deadweight action direction of the carriage 2, and the pressing and urging of the slider 20 against the guide shaft 1 make an equivalent to the deadweight of the carriage 2 act on the guide shaft 1.
