A method for supporting fast finalization of an optical disk is provided to be capable of recording null data from an opposite direction for a section where a VTS(Video Title Set) of the disk is recorded, in a system standby state when a functional operation of an optical disk device is not conducted, in case that finalization for the dual-layer optical disk is performed, thus a user does not have to wait for a long time during finalization operation afterwards. If one VTS is generated in a recording section of a dual-layer optical disk by recording a particular program(S10), a microcomputer decides whether an optical disk device is capable of conducting a preliminary finalization operation(S11). If so, the microcomputer decides whether a non-recording section of data which requires a null data recording process exists on the disk(S12). If so, the microcomputer carries out an operation of recording null data in an opposite direction to a direction of the section where the VTS is recorded(S13).
