FILTER BASE MATERIAL AND FILTER DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter base material having high folding strength and a filter device. SOLUTION: This filter base material is a span bond non-woven fabric for filter pleat-worked to have pleat stripes in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the non-woven fabric and the fiber constituting the non-woven fabric is a core sheath type polyester based filament formed by covering a high m.p. component with a low m.p. component and the relation between transmitting microwave intensity ratio of the width direction to the longitudinal direction of the non-woven fabric and the basis weight satisfies the following formula. (TD/MD)/X>=0.04. In the formula, TD represents the transmitting microwave intensity in the width direction, MD represents the transmitting microwave intensity in the longitudinal direction and X represents the basis weight (g/m2). The filter device is formed by incorporating the filter base material as a filter member of the filter device.
