PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively manufacture a continuous large diameter metallic glass wire rod, wherein a molten metal of a glass metal having an undercooled liquid area, at which a viscous fluid state is developed between a molten condition and a solid condition, is made to continuously flow in a recessed groove formed on a rotary element and quickly cooled so as to be taken out as a metallic glass wire. SOLUTION: A rotary element 1', composed of a good heat conduction material (copper and the like) and having a ringlike recessed groove 2 protrudedly installed on a horizontal face thereof, is mounted to a rotation shaft 7a of a driving source 7 so as to be rotated at a given speed. A crucible 3 is arranged, at directly above the recessed groove 2, and a heater 6 such as a high frequency induction heating coil is attached at its periphery for heating, melting the molten metal 4 stored in the crucible 3. Under this constitution, the molten metal 4 having an undercooled liquid area K, at which a viscous fluid state is developed, is made to successively flow into the recessed groove 2. The molten metal 4 being cast with a cooling mechanism 5 installed along the groove 2 is directly cooled and a formed metallic glass wire 4a is taken out from a take up part 10 into a cover 8.
