PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewage treatment method and a device to efficiently treat sewage with a simple and inexpensive equipment. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a reaction container 1 housing a far-infrared ray radiation ceramic body for irradiating a sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution with far infrared rays to produce activated hypochlorous acid in the aqueous solution. Also this device is provided with an inlet side piping 2 for introducing the sodium hypocholorite aqueous solution into the inside of the reaction container 1 and an outlet side piping 3 for transferring a treating liquid consisting of an aqueous solution containing the activated hypochlorous acid produced in the reaction container 1 to a place where sewage being a treating target is present.
