PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To package an image pickup device which is capable of simultaneously picking up animation images of ordinary images and fluorescent images in a narrow space. SOLUTION: Ordinary light and fluorescence are received at different timing by one photodetecting section 10 consisting of many photosensitive elements which receive light, convert the received light to signal charges and are arrayed in a matrix form. The received light quantity of the ordinary light and the received light quantity of the fluorescence are respectively converted to signal charges. The ordinary light signal charge Et formed by conversion of the received light quantity of the ordinary light is transferred via an ordinary light horizontal shift register 60 to an ordinary light reading circuit 80 for high-speed reading out. The fluorescent signal charge Ek formed by conversion of the received light quantity of the fluorescence is transferred via a fluorescence charge accumulation section 50 capable of holding the signal charges to a fluorescence reading circuit 90 for low-speed reading out through a fluorescence horizontal shift register 70.
