PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system which is improved in portability and handling quality, is downsized and has a curving drive assembly having good curving performance in spite of a long-sized scope. SOLUTION: A base body 30 of an approximately D shape is arranged at the inner peripheral curved surface of a tubular member 4, by which the inside space 10 of a drum part 4 is divided to a first space part 11 and second space part 12 of varying in volume. A light source part 24 and a power source unit 25 are arranged in the first space part 11 of the large volume and a monitor unit including an orthogonal gear head 83 constituting a motor operated curving unit 21, a motor operated curving circuit part 22 and a CCU 23 are arranged in the second space part 12 of the small volume.
