STRUT MOUNT FITTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design upper cases for outer members of strut mounts to be installed in both right and left positions. SOLUTION: A strut mount 1 comprises an inner member 4 outlined symmetrically at least in vehicle length directions that consists of an inner cylinder piece 2 for connection with one end of the piston rod of a shock absorber and an elastomeric material 3 circumscribing the inner cylinder piece 2, both integrally formed to have the axis position of the inner cylinder piece 2 deviated from the mount center; and an outer member that consists of a pair of an upper case 5 and a lower case whose space defined in between stores the inner member 4 when mounted on the vehicle body. The upper case 5 of the outer member has a noncircular recess in which the inner member 4 can fit whether oriented forward or backward, and the recess has at the recessed end an oval opening 21 that prevents interference between the piston rod end and the upper case 5.
