PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a porous body capable of raising hydrophobicity on the surface of a porous body, useful for addition of gas into water, suitable for filtration of water by applying a fluorine-containing coating layer to the surface of molded porous body. SOLUTION: This porous body is obtained by molding a great number of particles (e.g. polyethylene resin, etc.), whose surfaces are coated with a fluorine- containing coating layer by heat fusion or sintering and has voids between the particles, forming open cells. The application of the coating layer is preferably carried out by a vapor-phase treatment using a fluorine gas (diluted with an inert gas). The treatment conditions are preferably 8-16% fluorine gas concentration, 40 deg.C reaction temperature and 30 minutes reaction time.
