PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly and conveniently performing biochemical nature inspection in differentiation of bacteria in clinical inspection or food inspection. SOLUTION: In differentiation of bacteria by biochemical nature, this method is to directly contact an isolated colony developed in a specimen processed product or on a culture medium with a water absorbing carrier containing a coloring or light-emitting material by enzymatic activity of microorganisms or an enzyme substrate combined with a coloring material or a light-emitting material and then to detect the coloring or light emission of the carrier.
