PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lasting ability to remove HC, CO and NOx to an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst containing Pd as a catalyst component. SOLUTION: The objective exhaust gas cleaning catalyst has a substrate, an alumina-base carrier layer supported on the surface of the substrate and Pd and Cu supported on the carrier layer. Since Cu is present, the sintering of Pd supported alumina particles is prevented.
