PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thread breakage detecting device capable of reducing a thread breakage or a sewing defect. SOLUTION: A thread 1 runs in a thread insertion ring 2a, and when the thread 1 is broken, an arm 2 is rotated about a support part 3 in a direction A. Installation positions of weights 5, 6 are adjusted, pressing force between the thread insertion ring 2a and the thread 1 is adjusted so that the thread insertion ring 2a is applied to the thread 1 with optimum tension. Since the optimum is thus applied to the thread 1, the thread 1 is fed smoothly, and a thread breakage or a sewing defect can be reduced. As the weight 5 exists between the thread insertion ring 2a and a support part 3, an overrun generated when the thread 1 runs can be suppressed.
