PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject adhesive excellent in its initial joint strength, ordinary joint strength and heat resistant joint strength by incorporating polychloroprene latex having a specific physical property, a tackiness-imparting resin and a water-dispersed type isocyanate compound in it. SOLUTION: This water-based adhesive is obtained by incorporating (A) polychloroprene latex containing a rhodinic acid alkali metal salt as an emulsifying agent, having >=400,000 weight-average molecular weight of its sol (a toluene soluble fraction) and 3-40 wt.% gel content (a toluene insoluble fraction) in the chloroprene polymer, (B) a tackiness-imparting resin (e.g.; a rosin resin) and (C) a water-dispersed type isocyanate compound. The compound of the component C has preferably 17-25 wt.% isocyanate group content, is a polymer of hexamethylenediisocyanate and has >=2,500 weight-average molecular weight. Based on the 100 pts.wt. component A, preferably 20-100 pt.wt. component B as a solid portion and 0.1-10 pt.wt. component C are incorporated.
