PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform both coloring marking and a non-coloring marking and facilitate the changing-over between the two markings. SOLUTION: This marking press is equipped with type arms 3, which oppose to each other and between which a medium 2 to be marked with characters or the like is pinched, types 4, which are fixed to the respective type arms 3 for marking characters or the like, a circular type set member 5, in which a large number of the type arms 3 are radially provided, an urging means 7, in which the type set member 5 is rotatably supported about a rotary shaft 6 so as to urge predetermined types 4 against the medium 2, a rotatingly driving means 8 for rotatingly driving the type set member 5, a ribbon running mechanism for running a coloring ribbon 11 for coloring formed characters, a ribbon feeding spool 57 for feeding the coloring ribbon 11, a ribbon take-up spool for taking up the coloring ribbon 11 and a ribbon frame pivoting mechanism 12 for pivotally supporting a ribbon frame 10.
