PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jump type tri-folding umbrella whose weight can be made as small as possible while taking advantage of a jump umbrella. SOLUTION: Inside a shank 2 divided into first, second and third shanks 20-22 from an upper ring 1, a spring 3 attached to the third shank 22 at one end and to the upper ring 1 at the other is positioned, and an energizing mechanism is provided for energizing the spring 3 at all times in the direction for extending the shank 2. In order to open the umbrella by raising a lower ring 4 along the shank 2 by use of the force of the spring 3 to extend the shank 2, a connecting mechanism is provided through which a cord 5 is passed via the upper ring 1 between the third shank 22 and the lower ring 4. As the shanks 20-22 are extended by the spring 3, the lower ring 4 is moved upward along the first shank 20 by the cord 5 and stretchers 7 energize corresponding ribs 6 in the opening direction, whereby a jump type tri-folding umbrella is constructed.
