PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device capable of positively applying appropriate pressing force corresponding to the size of paper, to the fed paper with simple constitution, and an image forming device mounted with the sheet feeding device. SOLUTION: A paper feeding cassette is provided with an upper plate 64 energized by a spring 54b, and a lower plate 65 energized by a spring 54a so that the lower plate 65 overlaps below with the upper plate 64. An engaging step part 99 of a side guide 60 and an engaging protrusion 78 of the lower plate 65 are engaged or released from engagement by the cross direction movement of the side guide 60 corresponding to the size of paper. The lower plate 65 is thereby pressed to the upper plate 65 by the energizing force of the spring 54a, or the lower plate 65 is not pressed to the upper plate 65 against the energizing force of the spring 54a.
