PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deformation of a workpiece in machining a surface to be machined by pressing and holding a plurality of closable collet chuck claw members fitted into a fitting hole of the workpiece to hold the workpiece, to chuck claws, and controlling the operation of a holding mechanism and an opening/closing drive mechanism. SOLUTION: Each side face 10A of opening/closing claw members 10, 12 or the like of a collet chuck 4 is fitted into a sliding surface 6B of a hollow tip part 6A of a spindle member and moved in A-B directions to open/close. After perpendicularity determining operation is completed, a cylinder driving means is actuated to actuate a piston 8C in a D-direction, and a polygon mirror 1 is fixed to the pressing faces 10D, 12D or the like of collet chuck opening/closing claws by a keep member 46. The collet chuck 4 is moved forward by a slider driving means to move the polygon mirror 1 into a machining position between cutting means. Machining of a surface to be machined is carried out by a rotating means, and after machining is completed, the polygon mirror 1 is released from the opening/closing claws by moving operation in the direction of an arrow mark C.
