A rigging system for supporting a sail 14 on a boat comprises a sail support structure 7, 8 and 9 mountable on the hull or hulls 1 and 2 of the boat, sail support means 11 extending between the sail support structure and the boat, to which the leading edge of the sail can be attached, a boom 12 attached intermediate its ends to said sail support means intermediate the ends thereof and pivotable about said sail support means, and anchoring means 19 attachable to the boat to tension the sail support means substantially vertically and anchor the base thereof to the boat. The support structure may be a tripod formed from 3 spars, an A-frame (Fig 5) formed from 2 spars or a single spar (Fig 7) inclined to the vertical. A secondary sail 15 may be provided forwardly of said sail 14. |
