PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable recording and/or erasure of image utilizing change of crystalline states caused by adding energy by use of a compound having two or more crystalline states with different colors as thermochromism, piezochromism and photochromism. SOLUTION: A compound represented by formula I is synthesized from 3,6- diamino-2,5-pryrazinecarbonitrile and a compound represented by formula III (R1 and R2 are each a lower alkyl group or halogen atom). The compound has two or more crystalline states of different colors, and since energy is added to one crystalline state to change another crystalline states, a recording material can be obtained by containing the compound. A pressure-sensitive recording material and a thermosensitive recording material can be obtained by containing N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzyl)-3,6-diamino-2,5-pyrazinecarb onitril represented by formula II, wherein R1 and R2 in formula I are each a methyl group. |
