PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a homogeneous three-layer spun yarn having a stable cover state by stably covering a core-forming sliver with winding slivers in a roving process. SOLUTION: This method for producing a three-layer structure spun yarn comprises spinning slivers by supplying a core-forming sliver S1 and two superposed winding slivers S2 and S3 from a back roll B, drafting the slivers in prescribed draft ratios, and then bringing the winding slivers S2 and S3 into contact with a guide for stopping the run-backing of the twists between a front roll F and a flier head, or by drafting the core-forming sliver S1 in a prescribed draft ratio between the back roll B and a second roll, supplying the two superposed winding slivers S2 and S3 to the inside, and then drafting the winding slivers S2 and S3 with the front roll F disposed in front of the second roll and having a larger surface speed than that of the second roll in a prescribed draft ratio, thus concentratedly transmitting the twists produced by the rotation of a flier to the core-forming sliver S1 and winding the winding slivers S2 and S3 on the core-forming sliver S1 to obtain the roving R having the three-layer structure.
