PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sustain and enhance imaging accuracy on an image carrier. SOLUTION: The image recorder using a laser beam comprises means for detecting the moving speed (speed detecting element 301) of an image carrier 302, and means for controlling the irradiating position of light beam in the sub-scanning direction depending on a detected moving speed. The irradiating position of light beam in the sub-scanning direction is controlled by controlling the intensity ratio of an adjacent light beam in the sub-scanning direction.
