PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition capable of forming a coating film excellent in various characteristics, having good shelf stability and easy to coat. SOLUTION: The objective coating composition comprises an organic solvent and, dissolved or dispersed therein, an acrylic resin (a) having a silyl group bearing at least one substituent group selected from alkoxyl groups and halogen atoms, at least one silicon-containing compound (b) selected from compounds represented by the formula: R1aSiClb(OH)c(OR2)d (wherein R1 is a hydrocarbon group optionally having a substituent group; R2 is a hydrocarbon group optionally having a substituent group; (a) is an integer of 0-3; (b) is an integer of 0-2; (c) is an integer of 0-3; (d) is an integer of 0-4; and a+b+c+d=4) and polycondensates thereof and at least one metallic compound (c) selected from zirconium compounds, titanium compounds and aluminum compounds.
