PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device, and an image forming device and an image reader provided with the sheet conveying device capable of preventing the skew feed of sheets, maintaining image forming and image reading accuracy without the generation of nonuniformity of conveying speed and excellent in assembly workability with improvement in the degree of design freedom without a mechanism being restricted in layout. SOLUTION: A toothed belt 28 is tightly stretched by a driving pulley 25 and idler pulleys 26, 27. In a device working state, a driven pulley 29 rotated integrally with a driving roller of a pair of register rollers is engaged with the inner peripheral surface of the toothed belt 28 between the driving roller and the idler pulley 26, and in a release state, the driven pulley 26 is spaced retreating from the toothed belt 28. Tension is constantly applied to the toothed belt 28 by a tensioner pulley 32.
