PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light oil composition having an excellent practical performance as fuel for diesel engines, free from interfering of fuel supply in cool- temperature environment. SOLUTION: This light oil composition has following properties: a specific distilling property (50% distilling temperature of >=260 deg.C, 90% distilling temperature at <=300-350 deg.C.), cetane index (>=45), deposition point of wax based on the total light reflection of the oil composition at <=-2.5 deg.C, regulating the amount of precipitated wax up to -6 deg.C based on the latent heat of crystallization to <=1.7%, (δX/δY) <=-2.5 (As for n-paraffins having larger carbon number than that maximally contained, when their carbon numbers are denoted as X and their contents as Y wt.%, and the relation between X and Y wt.% is approximated to be a linear equatation by regarding the relation as proportional one,δX/δY is the reciprocal of the inclination (tangent) of the linear equatation).
