PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an oil level inspection even when an inspection device is equipped to an engine of a small planing boat. SOLUTION: The device for inspecting a level of oil OL stored in an oil storing chamber 10 at a bottom part of an engine 4 is constituted as follows: a bar-shaped level gauge 21 with a tip pat impregnated into oil OL is inserted into a guide pipe 22 and is supported; an upper end part of the level gauge 21 is situated at the inside of an intake box 25 taking intake air of an engine 4. As a result, the level gauge 21 can be arranged near a center of left and right directions LR viewed from an axial center direction of the engine 4, and even when the engine of a small planing boat is equipped with the device, an oil level inspection becomes easy, regardless of left and right inclination of the engine 4. Water and foreign matter can be prevented from entering the engine 4 from an upper end part of the level gauge 21.
