ORGANIC HALOGEN COMPOUND REMOVER AND REMOVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic halogen compound remover capable of satisfactorily removing organic halogen compounds contained in vapor and liquid phases by incorporating silver into an inorganic compound substrate. SOLUTION: Silver is carried on or impregnated into a natural or synthetic inorganic compound as a substrate to obtain the objective organic halogen compound remover. The silver is not particularly limited and is concretely a slightly soluble silver compound such as silver chloride, silver borate or a thiosulfato-silver complex. The inorganic compound is not particularly limited if silver is carried or impregnated but a natural or synthetic zeolite is preferably used. In practical use, the silver-containing inorganic compound is preferably applied to a base material by mixing, impregnation, sticking or adhesion. The base material may be a resin, preferably a thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene or an inorganic material such as bentonite.
