METAL-OXIDE/ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE HYBRID POWDER, ITS PREPARATION, AND COSMETIC MATERIAL BLENDED THEREWITH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a hybrid powder in which a metal oxide powder is controlled in the optical properties and is improved in the dispersibility, dispersion stability, water repellence, and hardness touch; and a cosmetic material blended therewith. SOLUTION: A metal-oxide/organopolysiloxane hybrid powder is homogeneously compounded in such a way that a silicon atom of the organopolysiloxane is covalently bonded with a metal atom via oxygen. The above metal atom preferable is of titanium and/or zirconium. Its preparing process comprises the addition of such a reactive organopolysiloxane as an alkoxy group- containing organopolysiloxane to a sol obtained by hydrolyzing a metal alkoxide to thereby form a hybrid sol, and then the powdering of this sol. Blending this hybrid powder with a cosmetic material can give a cosmetic material excellent in the usability, natural finish, make-up durability and ultraviolet ray- protecting effect.
