PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous process for producing a high molecular weight epoxy resin or hydroxyl group-terminated polyether which has a uniform consistency with hardly any gel formation from a low molecular weight epoxy resin. SOLUTION: This process for producing a high molecular weight epoxy resin comprises continuously passing a feedstock solution containing (i) a liquid epoxy resin, (ii) a compound having a reactive functional group capable of reacting with an active hydrogen or the liquid epoxy resin, (iii) a solvent, and (vi) a catalyst through a reaction chamber to produce a product solution containing a formed resin, and in this process, the feedstock solution contains about 5 wt.% to about 80 wt.% solvent, and the equivalent ratio of the epoxy resin to the compound having a reactive functional group capable of reacting with an active hydrogen or the liquid epoxy resin to be introduced into the reaction zone is about 3:3.1 to about 0.5:1, and the formed resin has a higher molecular weight than the molecular weight of the liquid epoxy resin.
