PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alkyl-etherified polycaprolactone-modified amino resin used as a water-soluble resin and can give a cured coating film excellent in water resistance and adhesion by reacting a compound having a triazine ring with formaldehyde and reacting the obtained product with an alcohol and a polycaprolactone diol or a polycaprolactone triol. SOLUTION: The alkyl-etherified polycaprolactone-modified amino resin is desirably the one having 2.5-5.5 combined formaldehydo groups, 2.0-5.0 alkoxyl groups, and 0.01-1.0 methylol group modified with polycaprolactone diol or polycaprolactone triol per melamine nucleus. A compound having a triazine nucleus (1 mol) is reacted with 2-30 mol of formaldehyde, 1.5-10.0 mol of an alcohol, and 0.1-5.0 mol of polycaprolactone diol or polycaprolactone triol. The reaction is carried out at 30-140 deg.C.
