PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject treating agent having an angiogenesis inhibiting activity, a metastasis-suppressing activity and a melanoma metastasis-suppressing activity, and useful as a treating agent for diabetic retinopathy by using pironetin, its related compounds or their pharmacologically permissible salts as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This treating agent contains pironetin, its related compounds (suitably demethyl pironetin or epoxypironetin) or their pharmacologically permissible salts as an active ingredient. Further, it is preferable that the above compounds are compounds expressed by the formula [R is a (substituted) lower alkyl], prepared by filling them into a liposome, etc., by an amount capable of exhibiting the effect of the above active ingredient and administered as an oral agent or non-oral agent in a preparation form of a solid preparation, etc., and the clinical dosage is approximately 1 mg to 5 g for an adult by once in a day or several times per day as divided.
