PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas venting plug which does not cause clogging due to molten metal and has enough strength when the gas venting plug is suitable for a mold for low-pressure casting and gravity casting a light alloy. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a gas venting plug used for a mold to cast a metal. In this gas venting plug 1 having a slit-like opening 2 for gas ventilation at a plug head, plural slits 2, whose length is 1-3 mm and 1/4 or less of the plug diameter and whose width is 0.05-0.6 mm, are dispersed on the plug head approximately constantly.
