PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a thread breakage or a stitch skipping. SOLUTION: This frame driving method is for a sewing machine provided with a rotating hook unit 3 including a rotating hook bobbin case holder 11 having a flange part 14 and a rotating hook 12 provided with a tip 16 passing close to the flange part 14, a needle 4 moved up and down to pass between the flange part 14 and a passing route of the tip 16, and a driven frame 5 having a cloth W stretched on it to be horizontally moved between the needle 4 and the rotating hook unit 3. Before a tip 16 catches a loop of a needle thread T, the driven frame 5 is driven in a direction from the needle 4 toward the flange part 14 as seen in a plan view, so the needle 4 is moved toward the flange part through the cloth W to narrow a gap G between the flange part 14 and the needle 4.
