PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater shield machine and working method capable of economically Working without needing an earth removing pipe or the like over the entire length of a tunnel. SOLUTION: An excavator is provided frontward of a shield machine 1, and a chamber 11 is provided rearward of the excavator. An in-machine pipe 12 is installed in the inside of the shield machine 1, one end of the in-machine pipe 12 is connected to the chamber 11, and the other end penetrates a ceiling part 13 to be connected to the outside of the machine. A pumping pump 15 is installed in the intermediate of the in-machine pipe 12. The underwater shield machine 1 is used for construction work.
