PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat belt device having a tension part for a seat belt and a seat belt force limiter part, always functioning for use with no restriction when using the device next as it is, after first use. SOLUTION: This seat belt device 1 for an automobile has an automatic seat belt winder 2 for guiding a seat belt band 3, height-adjustably guided in a vertical slide guide part 4 disposed on a vehicle frame; a fixing device fixing the automatic seat belt winder 2 to a functionable initial position in the slide guide part 4 and releasing the fixing at the time of collision; a seat belt tension mechanism moving the automatic seat belt winder 2 in the slide guide part 4 to the opposite direction to a direction of a tension acting on the automatic seat belt winder 2 and the seat belt band 3 until the seat belt band 3 is sufficiently tense when releasing the fixing; a seat belt force limiter mechanism limiting the tension of the seat belt band 3 caused by the seat belt tension mechanism; and a reset mechanism returning the automatic seat belt winder 2 to the functionable initial position for fixing the automatic seat belt winder 2 again, after the collision and an end of the tension action on the seat belt band 3 by the collision. |
