PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an operability in a main body and to make a vacuum cleaner small by constituting the cleaner by means of arranging a cord reel for winding-up a power source cord in the position of an upper part in the main body so as to be freely rotatable in the front and rear direction of the main body through the use of a support shaft being in nearly parallel with a floor surface. SOLUTION: The cord reel 21 is provided with the support shaft 22a supported by the grooves 23a of reel cases 23 formed in a front side case and a rear side case 15 and with a cord holding part 22b which is freely rotatable around the shaft 22a and the reel 21 is vertically arranged in the position upper than a motor 18 in the main body by the support shaft 22a being in nearly parallel with the floor surface F so as to be freely rotatable in the front and rear direction of the main body. Then the power source cord 20 is constituted to be smoothly wound-up from a curved surface part on the rear surface of the front side case. Besides, the cord reel 21 is vertically disposed in the upper part of the motor 18 to permit the rotary direction to coincide with the front and rear direction of the main body 2 so that the upper part of the main body is made to be slim.
