Emulsion polymerization techniques can be improved by using in the reaction, a precursor which is a cocyclic silicone which has a structure generally corresponding to the formula:where a and b have a value of 1-10; R3, R4, and R5 are alkyl groups containing 1-6 carbon atoms; and R6 is a C8 or higher alkyl group such as -(CH2)7CH3, -(CH2)11CH3, or -(CH2)15CH3. R3, R4, and R5 are preferably methyl groups. Aminosiloxanes or aminosilanes can also be included in this polymerization process.
