PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-aqueous polymer dispersion which solves the problems concerning sags of coatings, sliding down of coated films, orientation failure of metal flake pigments, etc., and improves the adhesiveness of coated films. SOLUTION: A non-aqueous polymer dispersion is prepared by polymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated monomer in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer which is a high-molecular polymer having a carboxylic group block polymerized by a vinyl ether compound in an organic liquid which dissolves the dispersion stabilizer and the monomer but substantially dissolves no polymer formed from the monomer. An organic solvent type thermosetting coating composition is prepared by incorporating the non-aqueous polymer dispersion and a binder component.
