SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes introduction of working medium into closed variable-capacity working chamber whose volume during first working phase is increased, and during second working phase is decreased to initial value. Working chamber volume during first working phase is increased until temperature of working medium rises to dew point specific for said working medium. During second working phase when volume of working chamber is decreased, first external medium is used as working medium. Invention provides increase in efficiency, creation of ecologically pure engine, improved reliability and reduced cost of production. This method is universal and can be used in engines with different variable-capacity chambers, for instance, in rotary engines and in pumps. Engine can operate as compressor, air-driven motor, or hydraulic motor. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 15 cl, 1 dwg
