An HMD, head-mounted video display, comprises a video display part (2) mainly consisting of video display LCDs arranged inside covers (11, 12), left and right frames (25, 27) for head-mounting supported by the cover (11) through frame supports (16, 17), and a controller (8). The left and right frames (25, 27) are detachably attached to the frame supports (16, 17). Earphone codes (20, 21) are guided along and inside ribs provided outside the frames, and earphones (6, 7) are detachably attached in earphone accommodating parts behind the frames. Such an HMD is compact and can be easily mounted to the head of the user and the user can view the display screen and the surroundings together.
