A method for making a reactive polymer capable of controlling and/or modifying the gaseous atmosphere in a hermetically-sealed container or a container with controlled permeability, involves extrusion-compounding a reactive powder (preferably sensitive to humidity) and an ethylene/(3-10C alpha -olefin) copolymer elastomer with low crystallinity (preferably below 20%) and a low glass transition point (preferably below 0[deg]C).
