GLASS TAPPING TOOL WITH OPTIONAL GLASS CUTTING HEAD

A glass tapping tool (300) for tapping glass and breaking glass along a score-line that has been previously cut. In one embodiment, the tool comprises a hollow tube (230) with a breaking end (250). The breaking end comprises a solid shaft (208) attached at one end with a pin (234) through openings (232 and 212) and a metal cap (202) is attached to the other end of the solid shaft with a pin (206) through openings (204 and 210). The solid shaft is also attached to a spring (216) through an opening (214) and the spring is likewise attached to one end of a slidable hammer (218) through an opening (220). The other end of the slidable hammer is attached to a collet (238) with a pin (242) through openings (240 and 224) and also attached to a cutter head (244) with a pin (228) in an opening (226) and a set screw (246) through the cutter head against the pin (228). The slidable hammer includes a chamfer (222) which engages a stop (236) inside the tube to limit the motion of the slidable hammer.
