CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER WITH AN IMPROVED ELECTRICAL TERMINAL FOR ATTACHMENT TO A CONNECTING DEVICE

A circuit interrupter including a housing, separable main contacts disposed in the housing, and an operating mechanism disposed in the housing and interconnected with the contacts. A connecting device is provided that includes an opening. An electrical terminal of the interrupter includes an end portion that inserts into the opening of the connecting device. The end portion includes cutouts which form a front face of decreased width. The connecting device also includes a protrusion extending into the opening, and the end portion has an aperture for engaging with the protrusion upon insertion of the end portion in the opening of the connecting device. The end portion includes a cutout extending in tapered fashion from the front face thereof towards the aperture thereof, with the cutout mating with the protrusion of the connecting device upon initiation of the insertion of the end portion into the connecting device. The connecting device also includes a side protrusion within the opening, and the end portion has a top surface with either an indent or a raised portion on one side thereof that engages/abuts with the side protrusion of the connecting device upon full insertion of the end portion into the connecting device.
