The invention relates to a linear bearing with a device for measuring the distance covered by a movable element part in relation to a stationary bearing element. The inventive bearing comprises a material measure mounted on the stationary bearing element and a measuring head with a sensor mounted on the movable bearing element. Said measuring head is provided for the contacting or contactless screening of the material measure. The stationary bearing element is configured as a guide rail (16) and the material measure is configured as a scale (19) that is located on a longitudinal side of the guide rail (16). The moveable bearing element is configured as a guide carriage. According to the invention, the guide rail (16) is provided with a longitudinal groove (15) that extends along the entire length thereof and in which the scale (19) is held by means of a flexible flat steel strip (14) that is pressed into the longitudinal groove (15) while bulging towards the guide rail (16).
